August Blog #1

In the first few seconds of the ad Mitt Romney uses pathos to appeal to hope by using his wife`s statements and by admonishing that he had an active role in making the Olympics possible. another way pathos is shown is when appealing to courage, it is being said that Romney is a take charge business legend and single handedly improved the situation of the state where he was governor. the last way Romney`s ad employs pathos is by using patriotism, this allows Romney to connect in a deeper way with the american public and make himself appear as a reliable leader within their country.
The style of this ad is one of courage along with new found hope for the current problems being faced in the united states. the camera angles depicting Romney in photographs is low, this gives Romney a lionizing status among those who support his views on politics. the music sends a message of hope and possibly a new dawn in america`s history with himself leading the way. in every shot Romney is in he has patriotic backgrounds or he is being surrounded by people, this gives the audience the impression that he is both able to take decisions not only for the nation but for its people also.
A symbol being used in this ad is the period after each word in the black cut-scenes. these periods represent the tone in which the words are being said, so that each word can stand alone, each providing a full idea within itself while still regarding Romney`s ideals.
